Download a Chromeo mixtape! The lovely people over at Vice Records are currently offering up a free Chromeo mixtape to download from their website.
For those of you who have yet to experience the delights of Chromeo, they are a duo who specialize in unashamedly retro, synth-laden funk, though don't let that put you off! This Arab/Jew partnership have a collection of brilliant pop songs, including former NME 'Single Of The Week', 'Needy Girl'.
Anyway, the mixtape contains eight remixes of Chromeo tracks by acts such as DFA, The Juan Maclean and Trevor Jackson's Playgroup. Also featured is the Bloc Party remix of 'Needy Girl', created by Russell. This possibly betters the original track, adding some beautiful guitar layers and an uplifting, New Order-esque outro to the mix.
Download the mix tape here and the original version of 'Needy Girl' here.
Vice Records are also running a competition to win one of fifty 'old skool' cassette tapes containing all the Chromeo remixes. To enter, email Vice your name and address.
