  A couple of Gordy interviews

[
Denver Westword]

"The third album, I’d like to think, we’ll get to make a little more in peace. The thing I get asked over and over again is, “Did you feel pressure in making your second record?” And sometimes I say “Yeah”, because I think we did. But sometimes I say “No”, because we tried to ignore the pressure. But there was expectation, definitely, and I’d like for us to be able to make music in a vacuum. That’s the ideal – to not be concerned with any sort of peripheral distractions or expectations."

[
Sensation Rock] (la version française est ici!)

"For us there were two songs that could finish the record. One was 'Sunday' and the other 'SRXT'. And it would be great if you had a technology whereby one or the other was the last track. But you can’t do that."

this ia all very wel but the thing is gordon is the least importnat member of bloc party as he has the least input, he really isnt an authority on anything

Please dont make up statements that you have no idea about, only a member of the band can say whether Gordy has an important creative influence, so unless this is Kele, Matt or Russell its useless! (and from what i heard/read(may be wrong) gordy has a lot to do with the musical direction and kele is lyrical, but dont take my word for it!)

I dont think Sunday would've worked as the album closer, and you've made the right choice with SRXT. Closes the album perfectly.

apparently all gordon's basslines were the last things to be added to AWITC songs. i just hate hearing him spout off about things when by all accounts he didnt really contribute much. watching him discuss the songs on youtube makes me cringe. if he was replaced bloc party wouldnt sound any different. in fact they would probably sound tighter as he is sloppiest player

what's your source for all this talk about gordy? I don't see where you get that from. as far as I can tell he knows what he's talking about, and at least he can string a sentance together!

Seriously guys, how can you be hypocritical about gordy in that way.
Saying he didn't contribute to songs and all that jazz is a sweeping statement in the fact that all of the songs are based on life events that have occurred in the band members life. And too say gordy hasnt contributed much to the music in terms of playing, do you know a bassist which plays xylophone, bass, drums and guitar... Not many ...
and for contribution to an albumn would be silent alarm, such as luno. . .
Nuff said

kele has said in interviews that he writes all the songs with matt initially then russell and gordon add therir parts. of course gordon has an influence but i really dont think he has a musical authority on anything. its like interviewing colin greenwood on the radioheads sound. i dont mean to be rude but he is just the bass player.

Dear me - absolutely pathetic...you obviously have very little knowledge of the band or music - Gordy and Matt are the absolute backbone of the band - yeah sure perhaps their musical contribution wasn't heard on AWITC as overtly as it was on Silent Alarm but that's just one studio album...go see them live - hear the killer bass of HFW, So Here We Are, Postive Tension etc etc...plus Mr Moakes is a mean glockenspiel, drummer and piano player not to mention the contrasting use of his backing vocals to Kele's...
