It was a poor presentation from Bloc Party. I'm a brazilian fan and i was very disapointed with this performance... If they were asked to lip sync (very hard to believe cause all other shows were live performances) they shouldn't perform at all...

Hahah great. Don't be mad at Bloc Party, be mad at the productionteam behind this show. Sure, I would be a little dissapointed, if Bloc Party did this with me in the crowd, but I would be absolutely gutted if they ever tried to fake their way through a song. That's just dishonest! This is at least honest, even though it might not live up to ones expectations.

i whole-heartedly agree with kristoffer, they would have lost my respect if they had gone along with it. anyone with half a brain can understand why they performed the way they did. yes, shame for the fans in the audience, but it had to be done! go bloc!!!

Anyone moaning about the performance...STFU. Bloc are a 'live' band not some crappy boy-band. I love how russell and gordy were taking it quite serious at the start and then just like, 'yh fuck it'. LOL at matts tash!

Fuck it. At least they tried to have some fun with it and make it entertaining. No-one is going to forget that particular showing in a hurry, whether they thought the band were being a bunch of dickheads or a right-on crew of maverick anti-MTV rebels.

If anyone Brazil feels patronised, then maybe they should question why they've put up with MTV for so long.

that was brilliant!! I do feel sorry for any true fans that were out there, particularly any young kids that wouldn't have understood what was happening, but at the end of the day BP were right to stand up for what they believe in, even if it meant sabotaging their own gig. While Kele is clearly trying his upmost to avoid anything but lip syncing, I think that if they were indeed asked to do so, that this is disgraceful as it cheapens not only the of the band's image, which BP have worked so hard to achieve, but cheapens British live music as a whole to South America, and this I feel Mtv should be ashamed of!

More worryingly though, is the fact that Kele's antics didn't, to be honest, seem to sit well with the rest of the band, at least to start with, while the whole stunt appeared to look more like a last minute decision rather than a carefully orchestrated plan to undermine the authority. Perhaps this why the it was received so badly by so many?!

All in all I'm proud BP still has the balls to break down boundaries and stick it to Mtv and hopefully this will set the standard for other bands forced to cheapen their performances similarly.

Everyone who is saying "I hope they don't lipsync at their concert" you know they won't do that. Bloc only mimed because it was TV and they were told to. Look at any TV show bloc has done and you'll find the only times they have mimed has been on teenie bopper shows.

you can tell kele really didnt care what they thought. i would have done that too. kinda shows the world that mtv is fake. i hate fakness. bloc party is amazing live and their is no need for bloc party to be assosiated with lip syncing...doesnt go together if you ask me.
 

ok, any fans would have immediately realized that it was a recorded version as heard on the record. If they are gonna lip sync, at least let them record it live lol. But I agree with BPs decision that's awesome.
 

ive seen poor live versions and awesome live presentations by this fantastic band. they were drunk, for sure. and i dont care if they dont care about my country, what i do care is about their music and thats all. they have the right to do whatever they like and fuck it.
im glad now that a bunch of idiots that know nothing about music, will hate BP now... otherwise, BP would be totally on MTV Brazil's spotlight becoming the trendy-band-of-the-moment here. i'll be on their concert in Rio and we all know that things will be diferent.
