Later...with Jools Holland, 25.05.07 As promised, here's the videos of Bloc Party's performance on Later...with Jools Holland a couple days ago. They performed three tracks - 'Hunting For Witches', 'Waiting For The 7.18' and 'The Prayer'. Enjoy!
Bloc Party will be performing on 'Later...with Jools Holland'tomorrow (Friday 25th May) alongside LCD Soundsystem, Wilco and Joan Armatrading. This goes out on BBC2 at 11:35pm, but check back for some YouTube action if you live outside the UK. Here's a video interview with Kele and Matt recorded in the Later... studios.
The band also appeared on this show way back in November 2004 - making their first television performance in front of an audience largely oblivious to the joys of Bloc Party. Read a pre-show interview here, and watch their fresh-faced performances of 'Helicopter' and 'Like Eating Glass':

[edit] Bloc Party have just announced some special guests for their December arena dates: The Cribs, The Rakes and Foals!
[edit #2] Check out a video interview with Matt for Punkrockvids and an interview with Gordy in Montreal.
As previously confirmed, 'Hunting For Witches' will be released as a UK single on July 9th and, as per usual, the release will come backed by a handful of extra songs to appease the appetite of hungry Blocheads. B-sides this time around are the semi-new tracks 'Secrets' and 'Rhododendrons' plus a brand spanking new track, 'Cavaliers and Roundheads'!
As if that wasn't enough, the release also includes a live version of 'Hunting For Witches' recorded at the recent Bristol Academy gig and a download package featuring remixes by Fury666, Crystal Castles and Dave Pianka (who's previously remixed 'This Modern Love').
[edit] Here's the confirmed tracklisting:
CD
1. Hunting For Witches
2. Cavaliers And Roundheads
3. Uniform (James Rutledge Remix)
7" vinyl one
1. Hunting For Witches
2. Rhododendrons

And on a 'Hunting For Witches' tip...here's Kele and Gordy explaining the making of the track:
Bloc Party headlined the 'In New Music We Trust' stage at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Preston last night, blasting out a crowd-pleasing set in front of a packed tent, despite the timing clash with fellow indie heavyweights the Kaiser Chiefs. You can watch the highlights of their set here!
[Setlist] Song For Clay (Disappear Here) / Positive Tension / Hunting For Witches / Banquet / This Modern Love / The Prayer / I Still Remember / So Here We Are / Like Eating Glass / She's Hearing Voices / Helicopter
After Kele's forays into dance with the Chemical Brothers and Gordy's stint with Yourcodenameis:Milo, it's now Russell's turn to make some music outside of the Bloc Party bubble. Russell 'guitar hero' Lissack is one half of the apocalyptic dance-rock project, Pin Me Down, along withMilena Mepris, a 23-year-old rock singer and guitarist from New York City (read her biog here).
Russell Lissack + Milena Mepris = Pin Me Down
There's no news on any official releases yet, but you can listen to their first track, 'Cryptic', on Myspace now!
As expected, the third single to be lifted from 'A Weekend In The City' will be 'Hunting For Witches', the edgiest (and best?) track on the album. The release is pencilled in for July 9th and this is already generating some controversy, being so close to the second anniversary of the London bombings which the song references. Stay tuned for the full tracklisting and video details...
In other Bloc news, the band will be making some special instore appearances on their upcoming US tour:
29.05.07 - Orlando, Florida - Park Ave CDs @ 6pm (DJ set and meet & greet)

FaceCulture spoke to Gordy and Matt just before Bloc Party's gig in Utrecht, Holland at the end of April. Click here to see them talk about the songwriting process, the natural tempo of Bloc Party, 'A Weekend in the City', Kele's vision and lyrics, success in the US and Holland, the Arctic Monkeys, their fans and, erm, 'Lick My Love Pump'!

Bizarrely, a new mobile phone game based around Bloc Party's 'Banquet' has just been released. 'Rock 'n' Blocks' is the game, and it sees you matching blocks before they clog up the screen, triggering the song's trademark interlocking guitar riffs as you play. The most fun a Bloc Party fan can have, or the most ridiculous idea for a game ever? You decide!
There's ten game modes to play, incorporating traditional puzzle levels and more arcade-based challenges. There's also a Story mode, which sees you on a rock tour, unlocking various items along the way. Meanwhile, three difficulty levels should ensure the game satisfies everyone from puzzle newbies through to hardcore bloc(k) breakers. (From PocketGamer.co.uk)
Gordy Moakes, bassist in some band called Bloc Party, became an honourary member of the RAWK glitterati last night as he joined Biffy Clyro onstage during their support slot for Bloc Party at Milan Alcatraz! Gordy took to the stage for the track 'Now I'm Everyone', adding some glockenspiel and lead guitar to the mix. Is there no end to this man's talents?
The tour continues tonight in Lyon, followed by a few dates on the Iberian Peninsula before the band return home for Radio 1's Big Weekend. There's no long break though...Bloc Party jet off a week later for another stint in the US before festival season begins. They should win some kind of award for 'Hardest Working Indie Band'.

Germany's Fritz Radio are currently streaming Bloc Party's recent Berlin gig in its entirety. Click here to listen to the show, but don't dilly-dally because the stream will apparently only be up for a few days!
The final episode in this series of six Bloc Party Vcasts, this time on the road in the UK and backstage in Exeter (edit: oops, it's probably not actually the final Vcast, so stay tuned for the next episode!)

'SRXT' soundtracks Grey's Anatomy From Bloc Party's Myspace...
As much as we might not want to admit it, getting on Grey's Anatomy is a pretty big deal. And not only are Bloc Party going to be on the show today, Thursday May 3rd, but 'SRXT' basically soundtracks the last 6 minutes of the show. Take that and smoke it.
As long as you've got the TiVo working overtime today, might as well switch it on for Carson Daly's Outdoor Concert Series where Bloc Party will be performing another choice cut off 'A Weekend In The City'. It's been a while since we've been so enamoured with our TVs.
