Bloc Party feature on new NME compilation

Bloc Party's Radio 1 Live Lounge cover of Nelly Furtado's 'Say It Right' (recorded last April) is featured on the 'NME Awards Souvenir' CD free with this week's NME, on sale today!

And tomorrow (Thursday), the Bloc play their first gig of the year - the NME Big Gig in the O2 Arena - as part of a stellar lineup (see below). Will the boys roadtest any new material? Send in your setlists!

BLAG PARTY: Cover #12

Track #12 in the BP.net covers project is a version of recent single, 'Flux', recorded especially for this site by Sweden's Birch Street Project. It's pretty ace too...the group have given the original track a complete overhaul, replacing the Euro-techno vibe with some Bossa Nova-styled rhythms, off-beat acoustic strums and sultry female vocals.

PMD: Dazed & Confused

Whilst Bloc Party beaver away on their third album, it's up to Pin Me Down to remind us that the band (well, Russell at least) still exists. The twosome are featured in the latest issue of Dazed & Confused magazine (read the mini-article by clicking on the image below) and you can read another recent interview with Milena on Glasswerk here. Expect to hear more when PMD release their debut single, 'Cryptic', later this year (currently pencilled in for an April/May release on Kitsuné).

Kitsuné Maison Compilation 5...out now!

Just a reminder that Kitsuné Maison's new compilation, featuring Pin Me Down's 'Cryptic', is out today in the UK...order it here (UK) or here (US)!

Edit: Read Pitchfork's review of the compilation here, featuring glowing praise for the PMD track!

"It's compositional effort rather than any specific sound that defines the compilation's several successes. Pin Me Down's by turns sneering and sighing "Cryptic" aims for a midpoint between the Bush Tetras and early Bananarama, and comes out sounding like an ace angry Girls Aloud single. Which should tell us two things: Firstly, that combining rock guitar and beat-heavy electronic production in pop songs isn't so novel that these artists deserve a medal just for turning up, and, conversely, that this very combination can aspire to pop majesty when the participants try hard enough."
