Happy Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa to all BlocParty.net readers...see you in 2009! If you get bored of Christmas TV, click here to watch a Bloc Party video interview dating back to October 2003, unearthed last week by Tom on AND!
And here's a festive ditty to close the year (to be sung to the tune of 'The Twelve Days of Christmas'!)...
On the twelfth day of Bloc-mas, my true love sent to me...

Watch below the brand new, and decidedly creepy, video for 'One Month Off', released on January 26th. As with the promos for 'Flux' and 'Mercury', there's no sign of Bloc Party in the video, just lots of nursery rhyme characters being blown into smithereens...
Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet, eating her curds and whey Then came a grenade which exploded beside her and turned the poor girl to sorbet
Edit: The video was directed by D.A.D.D.Y. (Design, Animation, Design, Design, Yay) and based on Ray Harryhausen's 1940s/50s stop-motion fairy tale animations:
"We acquired a number of the [Harryhausen] fairy tale stories and re-edited them to the track, so we had a strange narrative set in this animated fairytale world. A place inhabited by all the classic characters from Little Miss Muffet to Red Riding Hood. Taking the re-edited vintage animations, we then reanimated over these beautiful old stop-motion films, adding some 'reality,' so they lost that innocent feeling and meaning they once had. We have no idea what Mr. Harryhausen will think if he sees them, but some of the new cartoon violence makes parts of the video darkly funny, which he might like."

A mixture of the acoustic and album versions of 'Signs' plays during a recent episode of American teen drama Gossip Girl. No idea on the plotline, but it's all a bit emotional...
BlocParty.net has rather belatedly jumped onto the Facebook bandwagon...join the group here! However, unfortunately, the Always New Depths forum has decided to stop working (you can still post, but the template has gone wrong) so please use the Facebook group for Bloc-related discussion until the forum is back up-and-running again!
Edit: False alarm! The forum is back up again, albeit with a temporary template. As you were...
In perhaps the most exciting Bloc Party news for...oh, at least a week, Kele has fallen off his chair during an interview in Australia. Balancing precariously on his chair throughout the questioning (he claims to enjoy that hovering sensation), Kele tipped himself back that little bit too far during a lengthy Matt monologue. Kele meet carpet, carpet meet Mr. Okereke.
It's a well known fact that watching someone fall off their chair is one of the funniest things known to man. It is, however, not known whether Kele's fall was a genuine victory of gravity over chair-balancing finesse, or a cunning publicity stunt to drum up a few extra sales of the new album...
Bloc Party will play a T-mobile 'Street Gig' in Germany on February 7th 2009. The venue of the gig is a secret, though the official poster gives some clues (the event will be called The Bloc-Buster, and it's in a cinema). Tickets are not available for sale, but fans can register and enter here to win a pair of tickets.
And for some free choonage, go here to download a free live version of 'Ares', taken from the iTunes-only 'Live from London' EP.
