As a not-so-cleverly-disguised marketing ploy for the live webchat tomorrow, Kele has taken part in a preliminary Any Question Answered session with Drowned in Sound. Read the full article here. This is what he has to say on the new Bloc Party album:

"We're looking at putting a record out at the end of this year, or the start of next year. Right now it feels almost like we're standing in the middle of a forest fire or an earthquake…it’s hard to know where the music is going. We aim to make something organic and inorganic, made of very real components but that sounds not real and frightening. Almost hyper real in a certain aspect. I'm really excited."

Kele will be giving his first 'interview' for a long, long time (well, a few months anyway) on Friday when he takes part in a live webchat for AQA 63336 (Any Question Answered)...a UK text service which strives to find out the answer to any question texted in (e.g. Why do men have nipples? Why do you never see baby pigeons? Why do The Kooks exist?).

This is AQA's first live "celebrity answers" session...starting at 11am GMT on Friday 6th June you will be able to put your questions to Kele directly for free. Go here for more info. Maybe Kele will spill the beans on the new Bloc Party material. Anyone who asks what colour underwear he's wearing will be pelted with crunchy peanut butter...you have been warned.

These two videos were filmed in late 2004, on Bloc Party's first ever US tour around toilet-sized venues. They were professionally recorded for Bloc Party's US record label at the time, Dim Mak, but never saw the light of day. No rare songs unfortunately, but it's a pretty good opportunity to see early Bloc at their best. Download them both below!

Bloc Party announce new Canadian dates

Canadian Bloc Party fans rejoice...in September the band will be making their most comprehensive visit to Canada yet. Five headlining dates have been announced, in addition to their appearance at Toronto's V Festival. Tickets for the following dates go on general sale on Saturday 31st May, but Marshals members can buy tickets from tomorrow (Tuesday 27th May).

UK fans of Pin Me Down can get their hands on the 'Cryptic' EP from today on iTunes. The EP includes the original version of the single, plus three remixes:

Everyone else will have to wait until next week, when the single gets it full digital and 12" vinyl release on Kitsuné Maison.

Whilst Bloc Party are still being busy little studio bees, Pin Me Down have announced more news, including further details of their upcoming 'Cryptic' single release and their first ever live shows! 'Cryptic' will now be released on June 2nd in Europe, preceded by an iTunes UK digital exclusive version of the single on May 19th and a 12" vinyl release on 26th May. Teenage Cancer Trust DVD...out now!

In March 2006, Bloc Party were invited to play as part of a Teenage Cancer Trust concert at the Royal Albert Hall (read BLOG PARTY's report of the gig). This week, the TCT release a DVD compiling the best bits of their concerts over the years, including a performance of 'Like Eating Glass' by Bloc Party. Bloc Party to play Canada's V Festival

Bloc Party have confirmed their first live performance of 2008...an appearance at the V Festival in Toronto, Canada on September 6th. Tickets for the festival are priced at $87 for one day or $159 for a two day pass and all go on sale from today. Head here for more info!

In other news, Pin Me Down have confirmed that their first single, 'Cryptic', will be released on May 12th 2008. It'll come in 12" vinyl or digital format, featuring remixes by Phones (Paul Epworth), Jamie Ellis and Russell Lissack and Dave P & Adam Sparkles. More details coming soon! Tunng cover 'The Pioneers' in Milano

In January 2006, experimental folk band, Tunng, released their cover of 'The Pioneers' - a haunting, atmospheric take on the original track which was featured in The O.C. (Season 3, Episode 24 - The Man of the Year, fact fans). Download it here (courtesy of Visions and Revisions).

Bloc Party feature on new NME compilation

Bloc Party's Radio 1 Live Lounge cover of Nelly Furtado's 'Say It Right' (recorded last April) is featured on the 'NME Awards Souvenir' CD free with this week's NME, on sale today!

And tomorrow (Thursday), the Bloc play their first gig of the year - the NME Big Gig in the O2 Arena - as part of a stellar lineup (see below). Will the boys roadtest any new material? Send in your setlists!
