Ares / Hunting For Witches / Positive Tension / Signs / Song For Clay (Disappear Here) / Banquet / Two More Years / One More Chance / Mercury / This Modern Love / The Prayer / Flux / Helicopter
Bloc Party's brand new single, 'One More Chance', got it's first play on Zane Lowe's Radio 1 show tonight, and is now available to stream on the band's official site...
A couple of months ago, Blog Party posted this video of a beautiful stripped down performance of 'Kreuzberg' at a Belgian music festival. Sofie, the pianist and vocalist in the video, has sent BP.net this audio rip to add to the BLAG PARTY covers project...
BLAG PARTY was launched in November 2006 to collect together Bloc Party covers as performed by the BP.net readers. Listen to the previous 13 featured covers here! The project is still open for submissions, so please send your own recordings ('Intimacy' tracks anyone?) here. Bavarian folk interpretations of 'Ares' more than welcome...
Just a reminder that the 'Signs' remix EP is out this week, available on 12" vinyl and download. Here's the tracklisting...
1. Signs (Armand Van Helden Remix)
2. Signs (Armand Van Helden Remix Instrumental)
3. Signs (Pantha Du Prince Remix)
And if Armand Van Helden's effort is too abrasive for your liking, download below an alternative remix by sayCet, French electronica artist extraordinaire. This one keeps the delicate glockenspiel, floating the Björk-esque chimes on a sea of washing synths and barely-there bleeps. Beautiful.
Click the links below to download high-quality MP3s of Bloc Party's two sessions for KCRW's 'Morning Becomes Eclectic' US radio show! The first session dates back over four years ago to the 'Silent Alarm' days, whilst the second session was recorded a couple months ago to promote 'Intimacy' and includes a rare live recording of 'Letter To My Son'. Enjoy :)
Thanks to Dave Allen for the mp3s and Jill for the artwork!
Post-rock monsters, Mogwai, have remixed 'Biko' for Bloc Party's upcoming 'Intimacy Remixed' album. You can stream it by following the link below and it's a pretty darn good remix. That's all you need to know really...
As previously announced, Bloc Party will be giving 'Intimacy' the full remix treatment on May 11th. In some "controlled leaking" it appears that you can currently download the lead single, Armand Van Helden's version of 'Signs', on Stereogum...
And if you really can't wait a couple months, click here to listen to No Age's rather excellent version of 'Better Than Heaven' and here to stream the 'One Month Off', 'Talons', 'Mercury' and 'Ares' remixes!
Staying on the remix theme...here's a couple tracks recently added to the BlocParty.net archives...
Bloc Party made an appearance in BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge today, performing the current single, 'One Month Off' and their cover of Girls Aloud's 'Call The Shots', previewed in Manchester last night! Click here to listen to the interview and performances.
Last time Bloc were in the Live Lounge in April 2007, they played Nelly Furtado's 'Say It Right', though they never got around to playing it live. Last night's showcase of 'Call The Shots' was actually the first time the band have played a full cover live (not including their brief teases of Prince's 'I Would Die 4 U'and A-ha's 'The Sun Always Shines On T.V.' before 'Flux' at recent gigs)...and the band hint this cover may become a regular fixture at their upcoming live shows.
The boys have been pretty busy in radio-land...they've also recorded a session for KCRW's legendary 'Morning Becomes Eclectic' show. Click here to listen/watch, or view the entire session below. (Setlist: Trojan Horse / Halo / Signs / Mercury / Interview / Letter To My Son / Ion Square / Better Than Heaven)
Bloc Party will play a T-mobile 'Street Gig' in Germany on February 7th 2009. The venue of the gig is a secret, though the official poster gives some clues (the event will be called The Bloc-Buster, and it's in a cinema). Tickets are not available for sale, but fans can register and enter here to win a pair of tickets.
And for some free choonage, go here to download a free live version of 'Ares', taken from the iTunes-only 'Live from London' EP.
With it's music box glockenspiel and electronic backbone, 'Signs' is just asking to be remixed and, lo-and-behold, that's exactly what German producer/remixer/DJ MMMatthias has gone and done. Download the reworking in all its sparkly, pulsating glory below...
And here's a recent interview that Kele gave with Australian radio station Triple J in which he talks about, amongst other things, the Brazil MTV mix-up. Thanks to Eleanor for the heads up!
One Month Off / Trojan Horse / Waiting For The 7.18 / Price Of Gasoline / Song For Clay (Disappear Here) / Banquet / Signs / Talons / This Modern Love / Mercury / The Prayer / Like Eating Glass
Ares / Positive Tension / Flux / Helicopter
Halo / She's Hearing Voices
Edit: As promised, here's a high-quality recording of the first 12 tracks from this recent gig in Germany!
Bloc Party appeared on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 show this week to showcase some tracks from 'Intimacy'. Download below the full interview with Kele and Matt plus live recordings of 'Talons', 'Halo', and 'Signs'!
Download here a mashup of 'Banquet' with Katy Perry's 'I Kissed A Girl'. The two songs sound made for each other, and it actually makes her track fairly listenable...
Also, Pitchfork are currently offering up Bloc Party's remix of 'Salt, Peppa and Spinderella', the new single by ace Brummie aggro-popsters Johnny Foreigner, as a free download. Point your clicky peripheral here!
Download Bloc Party's entire Lollapalooza set, performed last Friday night, after the jump (includes the first decent quality live recording of 'Mercury')!
"Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke looked like he was ready for a very political game of basketball. Dressed in brightly colored shorts, vintage Nikes and a Barack Obama T-shirt with the word “Progress” written on it, Okereke and his band managed to overcome some technical glitches and the absence of bassist Gordon Moakes (he’s at home with a new baby) to deliver a set of inspired stadium-sized dance riffs as the Chicago sun set. The band really clicked the new single “Mercury” (where Okereke sampled his own voice) and on the set-closing “Helicopter” (which was greeted as a true anthem). During some down time, Okereke even teased the opening riff of Nirvana’s “Heart Shaped Box,” which was a knowing nod to Lollapalooza’s early-’90s roots." (Rolling Stone)
Last September, Bloc Party recorded a session for the Austin City Limits TV show, a day after their appearance at the festival of the same name. Download the entire set below, exclusively from BP.net.(Plus click here for a video of a couple of the tracks and watch an interview with Kele and Matt).
Here're two new 'Sunday' remixes for your aural joy, of which the Junkie XL remix is most worth downloading (it's essentially a souped up version of the original track). On the other hand, DiskJokke does away with most elements of Bloc Party's recording, juxtaposing Kele's vocals over an impressive electrobeat. Thanks to the Vice Records MP3 Blog for the tracks!
A slightly early Christmas present for all BLOG PARTY readers...here's Bloc Party's full performance at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, originally broadcast on NPR's All Songs Considered over two and a half years ago. Download live versions of every track off 'Silent Alarm', plus 'Little Thoughts'. Old-skool-Blocatastic!
Kele defied his doctor's orders last night to lead Bloc Party through a momentous gig for this year's BBC Electric Proms. Despite suffering from acute pharyngitis (a throat inflammation), Kele proceeded to rip up his medical note, down some Lemsip and explain there was no way he could let down his friends, the Exmoor Singers of London.
Bloc Party played 14 songs in total, all backed by the chamber choir, apart from 'Sunday' (a slightly cheesy performance by Kele and an acoustic guitar-toting Russell) and 'Flux' (the first UK performance of the new single). The other 12 songs were bolstered by various backing vocals, chants, foot-stomps and claps courtesy of the Exmoor Singers.
Whilst the choir took a backseat during some of the more straight-ahead rockers ('Banquet', 'Helicopter'), it's hard to imagine any rock songs more suited for a choral arrangement than 'The Prayer', with its rhythmic tribal backing and 'Uniform', the call-and-response vocals of the middle section giving the song a camp 'Bohemian Rhapsody' feel.
Download the set below at 128 kbps quality. The 'higher quality' tracks are a different bootleg of selected songs, recorded at 192 kbps. 'Kreuzberg' is a slightly muffled 320 kbps audience recording.
All songs performed with Exmoor Singers of London, except where noted.
Song For Clay (Disappear Here) / Waiting For The 7.18 / Where Is Home? / Banquet / Kreuzberg / Uniform / Price Of Gasoline / This Modern Love / The Prayer
Sunday (Kele and Russell acoustic) / Flux (without Exmoor Singers) / SRXT / Helicopter
On Sunday, Bloc Party play London's pint-sized Camden Barfly for the first time in over two and a half years as part of Gonzo's 5th Birthday Tour...the first in a couple of special London gigs this month (the second one will be with this lot). Download Bloc Party's previous Barfly set below, recorded two days after the release of 'Silent Alarm'.
Download below Bloc Party's entire euphoria-inducing set at this year's Austin City Limits festival...an afternoon performance under the intense Texas sun.
To mark Bloc Party's appearance at the Austin City Limits festival tomorrow, here's a crystal clear recording of the first time they played the festival two years ago! Also...you can watch Bloc Party's 2007 set in the AT&T Blue Roomtomorrow (Sunday 16th September)at 8:30pm CST (2:30am GMT!).
Download a video recording (or the audio rip) of Bloc Party's triumphant Saturday evening set at Reading Festival 2007! Two of the tracks on the setlist unfortunately weren't recorded ('The Prayer' and 'So Here We Are'), but all of the other tracks are awesome quality.

Here's an unofficial remix of 'I Still Remember' by British electronica duo, OrtzRoka. This assumingly wasn't finished in time for the single release, because it's one of the best 'I Still Remember' remixes out there (along with the 'Music Box And Tears' and SebastiAn mixes!) Download it after the jump...
Edit:The ISR remixes just keep coming! Download below the questionably-titled 'Speaker Junk Bass Bin Remix'. Be warned though...it sounds nothing like the original track. Think Bloc Party hepped up on luminous rave juice...
A 45-minute Bloc Party feature, broadcast in the US on Ethel, 06.05.07. Includes exclusive recordings of the band soundchecking for their recent Boston show!

Germany's Fritz Radio are currently streaming Bloc Party's recent Berlin gig in its entirety. Click here to listen to the show, but don't dilly-dally because the stream will apparently only be up for a few days!
And finally, probably the most successful mashup (and definitely the grooviest)...'The Prayer's floor-filling potential gets ramped up even further by obscure Canadian new wavers, Martha and the Muffins (mashed by Sam Flanagan):
[Download]'Beach Party' ('The Prayer' vs. Martha and the Muffins 'Echo Beach')
Bloc Party played two tracks on Jo Whiley's Live Lounge a couple days ago...an acoustic rendition of 'I Still Remember' and, in keeping with Live Lounge tradition, a highly improbable cover version.
A Nelly Furtado album track isn't one of the most obvious choices for a Bloc Party cover, but their version of 'Say It Right' could almost pass as their own work. Billowing chords? Check. Uber-uplifting chorus? Check. Hell, there's even a one-minute instrumental breakdown. Hopefully this means that Bloc Party will break their duck on the upcoming tour and add a cover to their setlist for the first time!
Stream the full session, including the 'I Still Remember' acoustic version, here and download some more unlikely Live Lounge covers over at the ever-reliable Good Weather For Airstrikes blog.
When Bloc Party's tour rolled into Toronto a couple of weeks ago, Matt and Gordy were interviewed for Iceberg Radio, Canada's leading internet radio service. Listen here!
Before yesterday evening's gig at Boston's Orpheum Theatre, Russell and Kele popped into the VW Green Room to perform a short acoustic set for FNX Radio. View some photos from the session here and, behold...Bloc Party as you've never heard them before (well, apart from those two acoustic songs on 'The Pioneers' single!)
Here's Bloc Party's legendary original Black Session, back by popular demand! This was recorded for French radio in February 2005, a week before the release of 'Silent Alarm'.
The Secret's Out...another new Bloc Party song?!? Nope, no-one saw this one coming...a brand new Bloc Party track has surfaced online...'Secret', and it's a scorcher! (Think 'Luno' with some extra "ahh-oooh"s, an old-skool-Bloc guitar line and a beautifully warm chorus). Apparently this isn't going to be available anywhere else, so enjoy!!
Radio 1 tonight & try before you buy Tune in to BBC Radio 1 between 7pm and 9pm GMT tonight to hear Bloc Party performing at BBC's Maida Vale Studios. They'll be going out live on Zane Lowe's show, and you'll also be able to listen online.
Also, you can now listen to the new album on Bloc Party's Myspace!
