BlocParty.net has rather belatedly jumped onto the Facebook bandwagon...join the group here! However, unfortunately, the Always New Depths forum has decided to stop working (you can still post, but the template has gone wrong) so please use the Facebook group for Bloc-related discussion until the forum is back up-and-running again!

BlocParty.net comes top 20 in the BT DMAs...thanks BLOG PARTY readers!
BlocParty.net has come #16 in the 'Best Unofficial Music Site' category at this year's BT Digital Music Awards! Thanks to everyone who voted and re-voted...top 20 is pretty awesome considering the relative fanbases of some of the other bands up there. It's also one place above the Sex Pistols fansite - that's karma for you. View the Top 100 sites here.
P.S. Bloc Party will be playing an in-store set at London's Apple Store this Friday (October 10th) at 9pm. Fifty tickets will be available on the door, and tickets can be won both here and here. Good luck!

Bloc Party are up for 4 gongs at this year's BT Digital Music Awards, and you can vote for them now. The band are up for Best Rock/Indie Artist, Best Community (for Marshals), Best Unofficial Site (for BlocParty.net, yay) and Best Artist Promotion.

It's that time of the year again...BlocParty.net is up for the Best Unofficial Music Site award at this year's BT Digital Music Awards. You can vote by clicking here or on the image at the top right of the page.

Happy Holidays!
Thanks so much to everyone who's visited BlocParty.net in the past year, and especially to the people who've helped out with the site recently. See you in 2007…it looks set to be the year of the Bloc!
Any hardcore Bloc Party fans who manage to find some spare time amongst the festivities, feel free to contribute to the brand spanking new Bloc Wiki! (aka 'Made Of Facts'...it's the new project of the Always New Depths forum)
Also, a few more additions have been made to the BLAG PARTY covers project…check them out here. It's become a bit of an international affair, with entries coming in from Sweden, Australia and Bosnia. Keep them coming! Don't worry if your song's been covered – there's more than enough room for repeated tracks.

Guess who's back, back again...
Always New Depths is back for good!
After a short hiatus, and a seemingly terminal death, the unofficial Bloc Party forum has been resurrected. You can access it here. Things are still a bit precarious, but at least it's a start. The old database has been lost, so everyone's going to have to sign up again unfortunately.

R.I.P A.N.D :(
Just a quick note to let you know that AlwaysNewDepths.com, the unofficial Bloc Party forum, has unfortunately been sent to the retirement home. Basically, the guy who ran it hasn't got the time/money to maintain it at the moment, so he's had to close it down...here's his explanation. It's a bit of a shame really, but the official forum has been given a revamp, so you can engage in Bloc Party-related conversation over there for now.
P.S. BlocParty.net is now looking for a new forum to link up with, so if you've got phpBB experience and you'd like to create a new unofficial forum, email me here!

BLOG PARTY needs YOU!
This is a plea for help! Basically, I'm looking for people who'd like to join the BLOG PARTY / BlocParty.net team.
I'm currently in my final year at university and what started off as a fairly easygoing year has recently morphed into a crazily busy one, meaning I have to spend less time running this website and more time poring over the intricacies of Quantum Mechanics. Also, with the second album on the horizon, the rate of Bloc Party news will no doubt be stepping up a gear in the near future, so I thought now would be a good time to open the doors.
I'm especially looking for...
This is a plea for help! Basically, I'm looking for people who'd like to join the BLOG PARTY / BlocParty.net team. BlocParty.net comes top 10...you all rule
BlocParty.net has come a very respectable 7th in the 'Best Unofficial Site' category at this year's BT Digital Music Awards, placing it at number 19 in the 'Top 200 Music Sites' overall (which includes both official and unofficial sites). I'm really chuffed with this, especially considering the relatively small fanbase of Bloc Party compared to some of the other bands up there (Radiohead, Madonna, Muse, etc...) and also the lack of Bloc activity at the moment. Many thanks to everyone who voted (and voted, and voted)!

Always New Debts
Unfortunately, the BlocParty.net forum, AlwaysNewDepths.com, is currently offline due to, in the words of The Von Bondies, "a lack of communication". The bill for this month's hosting hasn't been paid, but the forum will hopefully be back online as soon as all the debts are cleared!
In the meantime, here are a few ways to fill the AlwaysNewDepths-shaped void in your life:

- Vote, vote and vote again (maximum of once per day!) for BlocParty.net in this year's BT Digital Music Awards.
- Watch Al Gore's global warming documentary, 'An Inconvenient Truth' at your local cinema...it might just change your life.
- Get on the Hot Chip case. 'The Warning' is my favourite album of the year so far (closely followed by TV On The Radio's second album). It has everything...beautifully understated (yet addictive) melodies, genius lyrics, falsetto vocals, squelchy basslines, twinkly xylophone riffs, monkeys with miniature cymbals...what more could you possibly want in life?!
- Develop an addiction to Curve Ball. Subsequently defend your addiction with the words: "I am simply enriching my knowledge of projectile motion by studying the effects of spin on the trajectory of a spherical object."

Blocparty.net radio!
You can now listen to Bloc Party tracks as you browse blocparty.net!
This service is provided by Mercora - the world's largest music search and sharing network.
In the bottom left-hand corner of the blocparty.net homepage is a box which lists a selection of Bloc Party songs that are currently available to stream. The first time you click on one of the tracks, you will be prompted to download 'IM Radio'. This free program lets you search, find and listen to tens of thousands of individually hosted music radio stations. You can also become a "mercaster" by spinning up your own radio station and watching as listeners from all over the world drop in to hear your mixes.
The songs featured on blocparty.net will change every few minutes and once you've downloaded 'IM Radio' you can play each track by simply clicking on the song title.

I added a new addition to this blog today. If you click on the 'Receive email when this page changes' link in the sidebar underneath the counter, you can enter your email address so that you'll be informed whenever a new article is posted to 'Blog Party'. This service has kindly been provided by ChangeNotes.
You can also enter other web pages (up to 100 in total) that you may wish to keep tabs on, such as the homepages of blocparty.net or blocparty.com. You will be sent at most one email per day that includes all the changes to all the pages on your watchlist.

Design the 'Blog Party' logo!
As you may have noticed, I recently created a new logo for 'Blog Party'.
However, due to my shockingly bad graphics skills and the high quality of the 'This Modern Art' entries, I thought I'd ask you guys to submit your own logo designs. I'll showcase my favourites on this blog, and the best one will become the official 'Blog Party' logo.
The specifications of the logo are:
As you may have noticed, I recently created a new logo for 'Blog Party'.
However, due to my shockingly bad graphics skills and the high quality of the 'This Modern Art' entries, I thought I'd ask you guys to submit your own logo designs. I'll showcase my favourites on this blog, and the best one will become the official 'Blog Party' logo.
The specifications of the logo are:
- It must contain only the blocparty.net colours: white (#ffffff), grey (#999999) and green (#006600).
- It must contain the 'Blog Party.' title in the Gill Sans MT font. (Remember the full-stop!)
- It must be 675 pixels wide and 145 pixels high.
Apart from these restrictions, you're free to take any approach you like in designing the logo. Feel free to use any images from the blocparty.net gallery.

Blocparty.net visitor map!
I recently came across a nifty little site called Frappr that lets you post up a map on your website or community showing where in the world your visitors are from. I thought it'd be a good idea to put one on blocparty.net so that users can find out if any fellow Bloc Party fans live near them.
It's really easy to sign up - just go to the Frappr map I've set up and enter your name and location. You can also contact anyone on the map (providing they've left an email address), post up your photo and/or leave a shoutout.
If the map gets enough members (and people think it's a good idea) I might run a BP fan of the month feature or something!

Welcome to BLOG PARTY! This blog will replace the news section on blocparty.net with a more up to date page for all things Bloc Party.
BLOG PARTY will be easier on the eye than the old news section and will also allow fans of the band to post comments on each article.
